Following the August 29, 2022 New Jersey Health Department recommendations, we have updated

  our indoor/outdoor mask policy. 


 It is your responsibility to monitor your child for signs or symptoms of COVID-19 daily. If your child   becomes ill while in our program, you will be asked to pick-up your child within one hour of the     program contacting you. Please have plans in place to ensure you or a designated person is available if   this should occur. 

 Be sure that we have your most current contact information as well as the most up to date emergency     contact information.   


 
1- What does this mean for CPS families?

      
Parents will determine if they wish their child to remain masked outside/inside while attending school, provided that transmission        levels are low to moderate. If transmission levels move to medium (yellow) we will reconsider. If transmission levels move to

      high (orange) or very high (red) masks will be required to be worn inside again.

      If a parent requests that their child wear a mask, our staff will encourage those students to do so. Please remember to drop off          your child already wearing a mask. The responsibility does not fall on our staff to implement but rather to reinforce. We ask that

      you support all CPS families in their choice by reinforcing with your child that classmates and teachers may be wearing masks.
 
      All children are required to keep an extra mask at school in case a mask is needed.


 2- What happens if there is a positive case in my child’s class? 
If there is a positive case in a class:

     THE PERSON WHO TESTED POSITIVE (with or without symptoms) must stay home and quarantine for 5 days.  

      The person can end isolation after 5 full days and return on day 6, if:

  1. they are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and
  2. symptoms have improved, and
  3. they can correctly wear a well fitted mask while inside and outside, even after all symptoms have ended (from day 6-10).


     Children and staff who are unable to consistently wear a mask when around others must continue to isolate for a full 10 days.


     ALL EXPOSED PERSONS may continue to attend school as long as they remain symptom free and can properly wear a well fitted         mask while at school (indoor/outdoor) for 10 days following the exposure. 


 3- What tests are acceptable to use after quarantine?

      Testing to return after being positive is no longer required as long as the person:

  1. is fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and
  2. symptoms have improved, and
  3. they can correctly wear a well fitted mask while inside and outside, even after all symptoms have ended (from day 6-10).



  IMPORTANT:
  Without a doctor’s note stating otherwise, a child showing covid compatible symptoms at school will be required to mask while 

  waiting for pick-up and will be isolated from other students. If persons are symptomatic (and particularly if they also have been in

  close contact with someone who has COVID-19), a single negative self-test result will not be considered sufficient to rule-out

  infection and return to normal activities. After a negative self-test result, the symptomatic individual can either take a second self-

  test with at least 48 hours between tests or seek a test administered by a healthcare provider, either an antigen or a PCR test.

  All test results must be shared with the director. Accepted forms of results: doctor’s note signed and dated with the office header,

  provider’s portal document, at-home test dated with a sharpie (either a picture of or the actual test in a sealed bag).

  During an active outbreak (3 or more related positives in a classroom) or general increase in cases, we will consult with the local

  health department for guidance.

  If you do not want your child to wear a mask in any of the above situations, you may choose to keep your child home. No virtual        learning or refunds will be provided.
